OUR STORY
In 2017 Charlotte & Chris (Charlie & Ginger respectively) were commuting into London on a daily basis and becoming increasingly aware of how pivotal their ‘Coffee Moment’ of the day was becoming. Whether a reward for making it out of bed first thing in the morning, a refuel before an inevitably long and arduous meeting or a more leisurely moment of relaxation on the weekend, the importance of this ritual was growing.
The more coffee they drank, the more shops they visited, the more discerning (some might say fussy) they became. Why weren’t there any speciality coffee shops outside of London? Why did the London ones have to present such indecipherable menus? Why do places use stools that aren’t big enough to accommodate the average bum? Why do coffee shops have such questionable toilet facilities?
So they decided to build a place together that would solve this list of problems under one all encompassing goal:
THAT A VISIT TO CHARLIE & GINGER, WHETHER FOR 5 MINUTES oR 50, SHOULD BE THE BEST MOMENT OF THAT DAY
The way we go about delivering this goal is by giving every facet of our coffee shop experience deep consideration and challenging the way things are done in the hospitality industry simply by default.
That’s why our toilets are the talk of the town, our team benefit from a Profit Share Scheme and why it took Charlotte & Chris two full years of meticulous research, planning and arguments over teaspoon styles to finally open the doors of their first Coffee house in Leatherhead in 2019.
